“Borja Valero’s departure was a mutual decision. He did well here, but then at a certain point it was better to try another experience,” Antognoni told Mediaset Premium.

“We are in a good period of form and are unbeaten in seven rounds, but find a tough obstacle like Inter, who it’s true are coming off a negative streak, but are still an incredible team. We are cautious, but also eager to get the best possible result. The objective is to qualify for Europe, but it’ll be a tough final sprint.

“We didn’t have the best start to the season, but the team has settled now and we aim to do better in the second half of the campaign.

“This season, Fiorentina have focused on building a young squad. There might be some adjustments in January, but only small ones.

“Giovanni Simeone is 22 years old, this is only his second Serie A campaign. He’s doing well, moves a lot in attack, scores goals and provides assists.”
