Stefano Pioli felt Fiorentina deserved more than a 1-1 draw against Inter and praised their determination to snatch a late equaliser.

Although Giovanni Simeone only secured a point in stoppages, the Viola dominated the match and poured forward constantly, wasting numerous chances and testing Samir Handanovic.

Mauro Icardi had given Inter the lead against the run of play on a dead ball situation, but Fiorentina extended their positive run to eight rounds, even if six of them were stalemates.

“I appreciate the recent performances, even if tonight we deserved to take the lead and control the game,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Being able to react to that goal and hold on till the end to get the equaliser is a great sign. We haven’t earned as many points as we should’ve done over the last two games, but we have improved and this makes me happy, because we’re learning.

“Over the last few matches, we have had more possession and scoring opportunities than the opposition. Of course, we are still missing that something to beat bigger teams, but we still pinned them back for long periods. I am not surprised by any of that.”
