Reports in Italy suggest Arsenal have approached Carlo Ancelotti to replace Arsene Wenger at the end of the season.

The Gunners were knocked out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest at the weekend, and haven’t won the Premier League since 2004.

According to this morning’s Corriere dello Sport, the club’s ownership has decided that Wenger will leave the club in the summer, after 21 years at the helm.

The Frenchman is under contract until 2019, but he has been intensely criticised in recent years.

The newspaper states that Ancelotti has already agreed in principle to a contract worth €10m per year, not including bonuses.

While the FIGC still hopes to convince Carletto to change his mind and take over as Italy, they could’t match that kind of salary.
