The midfielder returned to the Giallorossi from Sassuolo last summer, and has two goals and three assists so far this season.

According to calciomercato.com, the €25m release clause in his contract is valid for Italian clubs, though it could be higher if certain conditions are met.

That has alerted the Bianconeri to his situation, with Premier League leaders Manchester City also interested.

As a result, the Lupi are keen to open contract talks with the 21-year-old, raising his release clause to ward off the interest in their young star.

Pellegrini has played for the senior Italy side twice, though one of those was an unofficial friendly match against San Marino, so his only official cap was a 5–0 home win over Liechtenstein in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.
