It is reported that Santos are struggling to agree a deal to sign Inter’s Gabigol on loan.

The forward struggled for game-time and goals with the Nerazzurri last season and was consequently loaned to Portuguese side Benfica for this campaign.

However, he has found life in Lisbon equally difficult, making only five appearances and scoring once since his move last summer.

Santos are keen to take Gabigol, who began his career at the Brazilian club, back on a temporary basis.

Santos are keen to take Gabigol, who began his career at the Brazilian club, back on a temporary basis.

However, Lance report that Inter are insisting on Santos paying a €3m fee for the player, as well as at least 30 per cent of his wages.

In this event, Santos would be unable to strike a deal as they would be surpassing their own salary cap.

If no agreement is reached, it is expected that Inter will leave Gabigol on loan at Benfica until the end of the season.
