Simone Verdi’s agent insists the Bologna winger turned down Napoli “purely for personal reasons” and not so he could join Inter next season.
There were reports his decision to snub the Partenopei was sparked by an agreement with the Nerazzurri for the summer.
“It was Simone’s choice and purely for personal reasons,” agent Donato Orgnoni told Mediaset Premium.
“Already in December he had immediately said no to a mid-season transfer. It all stems from his desire to prove at Bologna that he’s a good player. He is relaxed, happy in Bologna and wants to continue his journey.
“I hope this sort of opportunity can pass by again, but the objective is to do well until June. Simone would’ve had his say at Napoli too, albeit not as a regular starter. He didn’t turn down Napoli because he thought he wouldn’t be playing.
“There were some approaches from other Italian clubs, but they never went particularly far. There are no predictions for June, I’m telling the truth. As for Napoli, we’ll see in a few months time.”
