Milan want to start a new era with current Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri at the helm next season, claim Tuttosport.

According to the Turin-based newspaper, the club sees Gennaro Gattuso as only a stop-gap solution following the dismissal of Vincenzo Montella.

Plans are already in progress to tempt Sarri away from the Stadio San Paolo to San Siro over the summer.

It’s certainly not the first time he had been mentioned, as Sarri was very close to taking the Milan job when Silvio Berlusconi was still in charge of the club.

It’s certainly not the first time he had been mentioned, as Sarri was very close to taking the Milan job when Silvio Berlusconi was still in charge of the club.

There are reports they didn’t agree terms because Sarri did not want interference from the President and his left-wing politics were at odds with Berlusconi’s career in public office.

Sarri currently has a contract with Napoli that includes a release clause worth €8m.

Tuttosport suggests Milan could offer him a deal worth €3.5m per season, around double his current salary.
