“The lads worked very well after the first half of the season and tomorrow we immediately face a stern test,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Caceres has already settled in and will be a valuable asset to the team, bringing a great deal of experience. He’s in good shape, can play any role in defence and I’ll decide after this afternoon’s training session whether he’ll play. In theory, he could play in midfield too, but was signed for the defence.

“Aside from Felipe Caicedo and David Di Gennaro, I have everyone available. Felipe Anderson and Luis Nani will be important from here to the end of the season, especially as we are in competition on three fronts.”

Lazio have been a real surprise outfit so far this season, but have beaten Chievo only twice in their last seven meetings.

“We hope to end that taboo. Historically, they are a team that cause us problems, but we must be focused and take our chances.”

There are reports Lazio have agreed a new contract with Stefan de Vrij, whose deal is due to expire this summer.

“I hope the situation can be clarified as soon as possible. He seemed the same old, relaxed De Vrij after the break.”
