The Brazilian struggled at Inter last season before being loaned to Portuguese side Benfica for this campaign.

However, he has found life equally difficult in Lisbon and is now being touted to return to his homeland to rediscover his form.

With a portion of Gabigol’s wages being paid by Santos, the Italian daily reports that Inter will then turn their attentions to signing Sturridge.

The player, who is desperate for regular first-team football in order to boost his chances of making England's World Cup squad, is thought to be keen on a move, although a deal is yet to be struck with Liverpool.

It is also expected that the San Siro club will look to offload Eder in order to free up more funds and space in their squad.
