Fabio Quagliarella believes his hat-trick against Fiorentina is a result of the ‘fun’ he is having at Sampdoria.
The veteran forward netted a superb treble in the Blucerchiati’s 3-1 win over the Viola this afternoon, taking his season tally to 15 goals in 21 Serie A appearances.
“Without your head, your body cannot go anywhere,” the 34-year-old told reporters after the final whistle at Marassi.
“I am in an environment that I like a lot, a team in which I have a lot of fun and everything else comes from that.
“I dedicate the hat-trick to my family and myself.”
Despite his hat-trick, Quagliarella had to be substituted in the 75th minute of this afternoon’s match after picking up a knock.
“The change? I was already suffering before the third goal but I carried on. We will see with the doctors.
“Hopefully I stopped at the right moment.”
Sampdoria’s tenth win of the season means they move up to sixth place in the table, and their hat-trick hero is now targeting Europa League qualification.
“The boss has talked about that as well. Right now we are there, I don’t see why we shouldn’t try.
“We should enjoy the burden though, it shouldn’t weigh us down. It’s better to fight for Europethan against relegation.”
