Simone Inzaghi backs Lazio’s forwards to cope with the absence of Ciro Immobile in the coming weeks.
The Italy forward, who has scored 26 goals in all competitions so far this season, had to be replaced in the 35th minute of this afternoon’s 5-1 win over Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico.
However, speaking post-match, the Biancocelesti boss insisted the muscular problem was nothing serious and backed the likes of Luis Nani to shine in Immobile's absence.
“The boys are enjoying themselves,” Inzaghi said after his side moved up to third in Serie A with an emphatic victory.
“When we manage to go ahead we often score a lot of goals and that is a great hallmark.
“Historically, Chievo have always given us problems and in the first half they were pushing.
“But even without Immobile we did well. It shouldn’t be anything serious but we might lose him for a few matches.
“Fortunately in attack I have options because Caicedo, Felipe Anderson and Nani can give us a hand.
“We have a lot of games now and Nani can be important for us from now until the end of the season.”
Lazio have been on the receiving end of several decisions made using the controversial VAR system so far this season.
However, they were the beneficiaries today after Chievo were awarded a penalty with the score at 2-1, only for it to be rescinded upon review.
“VAR? My opinion remains the same, we need to move forward and Coaches are required to get used to it.
“The technology can help, we need to give the VAR time even thought my thoughts haven’t changed.”
