Gennaro Gattuso forgave Gianluigi Donnarumma and assured Franck Kessie is “far better than I ever was” after Milan beat Cagliari 2-1.
The Rossoneri had gone behind after just eight minutes when a seemingly harmless Nicolò Barella curler surprised Donnarumma.
“There was an error on the goal, but when it was still 1-0 he kept us in the game with a miracle, so these things even themselves out,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.
“We must take it one game at a time and then see how we end up. We are working hard, the lads deserve credit and we are growing.
“I am happy with the overall performance, but we must raise the concentration levels. At the end we were a little tired, but are starting to play some good football.”
Kessie bagged a brace to complete the turnaround and has been compared to Gattuso for his rugged midfield presence.
“Kessie is far better than I ever was, because he has seven or eight goals in his legs per season. In any case, we’ve got to focus on the collective and not individuals.”
Nikola Kalinic started in attack this evening, but there was again no room for Andre Silva.
“There are 11 games coming up in 43 days, so there will be room for everyone, including Andre Silva. It’s my responsibility at the moment if he doesn’t play, as he is a young and talented forward who just needs to improve in a few areas.”
