This encounter comes just a week after Verdi rejected a transfer to Napoli, where he would’ve earned far more.

“If Verdi wants to grow and develop, then he has to leave all this transfer speculation behind him,” said Donadoni in today’s Press conference.

“The San Paolo is always one of the most heated atmospheres in Serie A. I trust the fact that the San Paolo crowd will understand and accept Simone’s decision, because you need balance in life.

“Don’t forget how Napoli fans felt when Higuain left for a ‘bigger’ club and salary. What happens to you can happen in other clubs too. What everybody needs in this situation is a sense of balance and respect.”

Verdi will play, but Vasilis Torosidis and Giancarlo Gonzalez are carrying knocks.

“We are not bit-part players, we will try to make a god impression and pick up some points. Napoli are made up of great champions who can change a game at any moment. Of course, we must be wary, but a team is made of 11 players and we can close down the spaces.”
