Amin Younes will join Napoli in July as a free agent, said his agent, but only due to “serious family matters” and not a problem with Ajax.

The German international had his medical last week, but no transfer was completed and today reports emerged Ajax had raised their €5m asking price.

“After unfounded rumours that circulated in Naples today, I want to clarify that the player went to Rome for a medical and to sign the pre-contract agreement for June, because that was the initial agreement,” agent Nicola Innocentin told GianlucaDiMarzio.com.

“The day after, he had a further blood test in Naples and went to see the game at the Stadio San Paolo, waiting for Ajax and Napoli to agree the transfer.

“Meanwhile, the lad had some serious personal family matters to deal with and those prompted him to ask the two clubs to postpone the transfer to June.

“Therefore I wish to make it clear that Younes has returned to Germany purely because of family matters.”

It's reported his grandfather is very ill and not expected to live for much longer. He is based in Dortmund, only two hours away from Amsterdam.
