Lorenzo Pellegrini has challenged his Roma teammates “to give more” and move on from their ‘delicate’ spell.

A run of just one win in nine games has seen Roma fall out of Scudetto contention and exit the Coppa Italia, forcing Pellegrini to issue a rallying cry ahead of the Giallorossi’s match against Verona on Sunday.

A run of just one win in nine games has seen Roma fall out of Scudetto contention and exit the Coppa Italia, forcing Pellegrini to issue a rallying cry ahead of the Giallorossi’s match against Verona on Sunday.

“It’ll be a very important game, which we must win at all costs,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“We must get back to winning and rediscover the bit of calmness that we’re lacking. We’ll do everything to get the three points.

“It’s been quite a good time for me, I’m happy about playing a lot and being able to express myself, but I still have to improve a lot on and can only do that by working hard.

“We’re all sorry about not winning, but the Coach has very clear ideas for us to start over. We must all give more, starting on Sunday.

“The transfer market? We can have no excuses for our last few games. We must always be calm so we can do our jobs as best we can.

“We have to bring the three points home on Sunday. I see a Roma side that are only lacking results.

“Winning breeds more wins, and it’s for this reason that we must win again as soon as possible.

“It’s a delicate time for us, but we’re in the last 16 of the Champions League and we’re up there in the League.

“Italy? I really want to help the national team start over, although it’s not because those who have played so far haven’t managed to do well.

“We must have the desire to fight for our country. We must start over with the desire to do well.”
