“The team has some issues and not everyone is in good shape,” confessed the Coach in his Press conference.

“It’s very unlikely that Gomez will recover in time for tomorrow. He suffered a sprain while shooting and got his studs stuck. Caldara is also out, because he didn’t train on Thursday or Friday.

“We’ve got Leonardo Spinazzola back, but need to be wary with Ilicic because he has an inflammation and remains in doubt. He might need a few more days to recover.”

Atalanta were beaten 1-0 by Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final on Tuesday, with the second leg in Turin on February 28.

“We had narrow home defeats to Napoli and Juve, the two strongest sides in Italy, facing them with courage and great effort. We have to learn from losses.

“The important thing now is to turn the situation around and get the three points on home turf. Chievo are a very good side who know how to clam up and go on the counter or do damage on set plays.

“We must be wary and not make the same kinds of mistakes that cost us against Cagliari.”
