“Without doubt, this is a tough game for us, as over the years Genoa have been a really difficult opponent,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We need a top level performance, to win in front of our fans and improve our position in the table.”

This is something of a reunion for Inzaghi, who was a striker in Genoa boss Davide Ballardini’s Lazio in 2009-10.

“It’s true, Ballardini was my Coach. He is well-prepared and will be eager to make a good impression here.”

The Biancocelesti are forced into changes, as Senad Lulic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic are both suspended, but Stefan de Vrij returns in defence.

“I have more than one alternative to consider. We could push Luis Alberto further back into midfield, we’ve got Alessandro Murgia who is champing at the bit, so I’ll decide after tomorrow morning’s training session.

“We have five strikers to choose from, as technically Luis Alberto has been playing as a support forward. They can combine in various ways, so it’s good to have so many choices.”

Lucas Leiva is one booking away from a ban, but Inzaghi insists he won’t rest the former Liverpool midfielder ahead of the showdown with Napoli next week.

“I have shown already that I don’t pick and choose my games. The next is with Genoa and all our focus is on that fixture, without thinking about Napoli.”
