The FIGC confirmed earlier on Monday that Di Biagio would oversee Italy’s friendlies against Argentina and England next month, and the Azzurrini boss admits he cannot wait to get started.

“It’s a great opportunity,” the former Roma and Inter midfielder told Premium Sport.

“I really want to start right away, I’m here to work, I have lots of things in mind and I’ll try to make them happen.

“Two important, difficult games against Argentina and England await us, but we can certainly do very well in them.

“My squad? I’m lucky enough to know 80 percent of the lads that will be part of the national team very well. I’ve also had the chance to play with some of them.”
