Roma have Newell’s Old Boys teenage midfielder Nicolas Castro training with the team after a surprise transfer.

The 17-year-old was born in November 2000 and had already caught the eye of Boca Juniors, but Giallorossi director of sport Monchi intercepted with a winning bid of €600,000 for 70 per cent of his contract.

The remaining 20 per cent stays with his childhood club 9 de Julio de Rafaela.

It’s reported Manchester United and Barcelona had also scouted Castro, who was given a training ground test with the Argentina Under-20 side when he was still only 16.
