The former Valencia right-back was left on the bench for the 1-1 draw at San Siro last Saturday, coming on for the final minutes as a substitute.

It had already been rumoured a training ground bust-up was the reason behind his exclusion, but more details are emerging.

According to O Jogo, Cancelo complained bitterly in training last Thursday because he was tested out as a left-back with Danilo D’Ambrosio on the right.

His protests in front of the whole team irritated Spalletti, who promptly dropped him in favour of Dalbert.

Cancelo was then called into the club headquarters for a telling off from Coach and directors.

It would’ve been the second time in a row that he was used at left-back after the 1-1 draw at SPAL.
