Ballardini wants ‘humble’ Grifone

Genoa Coach Davide Ballardini urges his side to show humility when they face Chievo tomorrow.

The Grifone go into the match at the Bentegodi high on confidence after a surprise win over third-placed Lazio on Monday.

However, the Marassi boss insists his players cannot afford to be complacent against their out of form opponents.

“We go to Verona to back up our precious win but also our performance, which was made up of so many good things,” Ballardini said at a Press conference.

“It will need a great performance, with a lot of attention and a lot of humility.”

Although Ballardini is pleased to hear members of his squad saying Chievo will provide just as tough a test as Lazio, he added that actions speak louder than words.

“I am pleased about that but words need to be followed by action. It’s good that we know the match will be tough but you know well that what matters is what you actually do.”

“Chievo are a very well-drilled team. They are always in control of the situation and have had some important players unavailable.

“They are a team who could teach everyone how to survive comfortably in Serie A.

“They have been in this League for many years, they know what they are doing.”
