De Zerbi: 'Benevento are inferior'

Roberto De Zerbi is taking Benevento’s underdog status very seriously. “We take on Roma knowing full well that we are inferior."

It kicks off at 19.45 GMT, click here for a match preview.

Le Streghe are still propping up the Serie A table, but have been transformed over the January transfer window, bringing in the likes of Bacary Sagna, Christian Puggioni, Guilherme and Sandro.

“Danilo Cataldi hasn’t made the trip, because he already played with a niggling injury against Napoli last week,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Berat Djimsiti has the flu and we hope he’ll be in good enough shape to play. Cheick Diabate arrived having not played for six months, training separately from the rest of his squad, so he needs a little time to get into shape.

“Alin Tosca didn’t play much with Betis, but his position is a delicate one and I need to make sure he has fully understood certain movements.

“Sagna will be on the bench. Certain types of players are an improvement for everyone and that includes me, as there is always more to learn in football.

“We take on Roma knowing full well that we are inferior, as they are a great team with a massive stadium and a big club behind them.

“Considering the situation we are in, we must try to pick up points against anyone and in any situation. Receiving compliments for our performances makes zero difference, because we remain bottom of the table.”

Benevento squad for Roma: Puggioni, Brignoli, Piscitelli; Gyamfi, Venuti, Sagna, Billong, Letizia, Costa, Djimsiti, Tosca; Del Pinto, Memushaj, Viola, Sandro, Djuricic; Guilherme, Diabate, Parigini, D'Alessandro, Lombardi, Coda, Iemmello, Brignola
