Serie B club Palermo were fined €10,000 after one of their supporters hit the referee with an ice cream cone.
It has been a strange week in Serie B, as Pro Vercelli saw a member of staff banned for the rest of the season after punching both the Brescia kit man and a player who tried to intervene.
Another bizarre incident occurred in Monday night’s game, which saw former leaders Palermo beaten 2-1 at home by Foggia.
Midway through the second half, a Palermo fan threw an ice cream cone from the stands and struck the referee.
The club was fined €10,000, but it was noted in the formal Disciplinary Commission report that there were “no injuries” caused by the delicacy.
