This is the first leg in the Round of 32 and despite topping their group ahead of Olympique Lyonnais and Everton, Atalanta got an extremely tough draw.

They’re up against Borussia Dortmund, who dropped down from the Champions League after finishing third in the group phase behind Tottenham and Real Madrid.

In truth, they were level with APOEL on two points, but got the nod thanks to goal difference.

The Germans are known for their passionate supporters and the Yellow Wall at the Westfalenstadion, also known as the Signal Iduna Park.

They had a very rough start to this season, but things have been looking up since bringing in new Coach Peter Stoger on December 10 and Chelsea-owned Michy Batshuayi last month, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s boots are very big to fill.

There are some important returns for Dortmund, as Andreas Schurrle and Marco Reus are all finding their feet again after long-term injury woes.

Borussia Dortmund are without a European win in eight matches, losing six of them, and that includes three defeats in the last four home games.

Atalanta are one of only four sides still unbeaten after the group phase this season and, in their first European campaign since 1990-91, have certainly made a name for themselves.

So has Gomez, who celebrates his 30th birthday today by making his return from injury with Mattia Caldara.

Rather than use one of the two big centre-forwards, Andrea Petagna or Andreas Cornelius, Papu is partnered by Josip Ilicic.

Ilicic, Andrea Masiello and Dortmund’s Julian Weigl have to be careful, as they are all one yellow card away from suspension.

Borussia Dortmund: Burki; Piszczek, Sokratis, Toprak, Toljan; Weigl, Castro; Pulisic, Reus, Schurrle; Batshuayi

Borussia bench: Weidenfeller, Beste, Sahin, Dahoud, Gotze, Zagadou, Philipp

Atalanta: Berisha; Toloi, Caldara, Masiello; Hateboer, De Roon, Freuler, Spinazzola; Cristante; Gomez, Ilicic
