Simone Inzaghi believes Lazio “did not deserve” their 1-0 defeat at Steaua Bucharest and maintains hope of Europa League progress.

“We didn’t make the most of our many scoring opportunities, fortunately we have the second leg and I think if we play like this, we’ll win the game,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s a difficult period in terms of goals and results, but not performances, because we did not deserve to lose this evening.

“The team did what it had to do, the regret is that we lost despite all of that. It can help us grow, but we know we’ve got a good chance of qualifying with a performance like that.

“I would’ve made the same choices again. It’s just a pity we didn’t get the away goal, which we would’ve deserved. It’s not a good result for the first leg, as we now are forced to win and avoid conceding, but we can certainly do it.

“Naturally, we don’t have the same confidence we did before a run of negative results, but I am convinced we’ll get back on track and make our fans happy if we keep playing like this.”
