Massimo Oddo criticised his Udinese side for decisive errors both in defence and attack when losing 2-0 to Roma. “We gifted two goals.”

Cengiz Under and Diego Perotti scored at the Dacia Arena, the Argentine in particular making the most of a costly error.

“We gifted two goals by making mistakes playing our way out of defence. We also created many scoring opportunities, with three or four very dangerous counter-attacks, but got the final ball wrong,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We lacked sharpness in our finishing, then gifted two goals with defensive errors, so we paid the price. I haven’t seen a big downturn in form, as let’s not forget we were facing Roma. If I were to see anyone who wasn’t determined or focused, I’d send him into the stands, so that’s not a problem.

“We have a very physical team and when the fitness levels and intensity drop, the technical superiority of other sides can take control.”

Cengiz Under broke the deadlock with a scorcher, his fourth goal in the last three games for Roma.

“He is a strong player with a lot of character, but if you press him hard, he won’t score that goal. He could prove to be very useful for Roma, but we are a Serie A team and should know when to close a forward down aggressively.

“I arrived in Udine with the team three points away from the relegation zone, now we are 16 points clear. We haven’t set any targets, the dream of Europe will remain a dream, so we mustn’t think that losing to Roma ends everything. We are playing football, how can we not be motivated?”
