“During today's derby against Torino, Gonzalo Higuain suffered a contusion and trauma to his left ankle, while Federico Bernardeschi suffered some pain involving his left knee ligaments. For both, further tests are planned in the coming days," read a statement.

The Argentine forward lasted only 15 minutes of the 1-0 win over Torino at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino before being substituted after falling awkwardly on his left ankle.

Higuain had sustained the knock after only three minutes following a challenge with Torino keeper Salvatore Sirigu, but despite limping on he was forced to concede defeat not long afterwards.

His replacement, Bernardeschi, was not included in Max Allegri’s starting 11 due to not being fully fit – however, he was required to play 75 minutes before going off himself deep into injury time.

And following the final whistle, it emerged that the former Fiorentina man had sustained a sprain to the ligament of his left knee.

The duo will now undergo testing over the next few days, amid fears they could miss Juve’s crucial Champions League last 16 second leg with Tottenham Hotspur in just over a fortnight’s time.
