The Blucerchiati were beaten 1-0 at San Siro by a Jack Bonaventura strike, although it would’ve been a heavier scoreline if not for Emiliano Viviano’s penalty save on Ricardo Rodriguez.

“We encountered Milan during their best moment of the season,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“They are a team with a lot of technique and, paradoxically, the absence of Franck Kessie made them sharper in their passing. I think tonight’s result and performance owes more to Milan than any errors we might’ve made.

“We cannot compare ourselves to Milan, yet we are level on points with them in the table and will continue to challenge for sixth place, so that is something to be proud of. I couldn’t have asked for anything more other than perhaps a little more sharpness in our passing.

“Milan put in a strong performance and deserved the win. We worked on their wide play in training this week, but they still managed to get round us with their quality.”

Gennaro Gattuso has completely transformed the Rossoneri since replacing Vincenzo Montella.

“It’s the players who make the difference, not the Coaches.”
