There are increasing concerns about Federico Bernardeschi, as the knee is still too swollen to have tests for ligament damage.
Bernardeschi and teammate Gonzalo Higuain limped off during Sunday’s 1-0 win over Torino.
“Gonzalo Higuain sustained a sprain and bruising of his left ankle, while Federico Bernardeschi sustained a knock to his left knee. For both players, further tests are planned in the coming days,” read a club statement.
The latest reports from Turin suggest Higuain only has a knock and is expected to be back in action next week.
Bernardeschi is causing more concern, as there are fears of ligament damage.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the knee is still very swollen today, a sign of a bad sprain, and the medical staff won’t be able to test for ligament damage until tomorrow or even Wednesday.
