Serie B outfit Frosinone have seen their Stadio Stirpe nominated for Stadium of the Year 2017 along with Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano.
The competition is run by website Stadiumdb.com and voted for by a combination of a Public Award and a jury of stadium specialists.
It is given to arenas that have been built from scratch or substantially reconstructed in the year 2017.
Very few clubs in Italy have their own stadium due to red tape and most arenas being owned by local councils.
In 2016, Frosinone were granted a 45-year freehold of the stadium and revamped the structure.
Among the nominees Frosinone are up against there are Atletico Madrid’s massive Wanda Metropolitano project, the Gaziantep Stadyumu, Luzhniki and Orlando City Stadium.
