Fabio Quagliarella has big ambitions for Sampdoria and his own Capocannoniere chances this season. “It doesn’t hurt to try.”

The Blucerchiati were beaten 1-0 by Milan at the weekend and caught in joint sixth place, but remain in the hunt for a European spot.

“There’s a long way to go this season and we have to focus on our path, understanding what we got wrong against Milan. I still think we can fight them all the way,” Quagliagol told RMC Sport.

“There’s a long way to go this season and we have to focus on our path, understanding what we got wrong against Milan. I still think we can fight them all the way,” Quagliagol told RMC Sport.

“We have a great Coach and extraordinary fans, so we have every reason to believe in ourselves. The supporters are our 12th man and our home record proves it.”

Quagliarella just turned 35, yet is having his most prolific ever Serie A season with 17 goals in 24 games, behind only Mauro Icardi and Ciro Immobile.

“It would be great to win the Capocannoniere title, but there are world class forwards ahead of me. It doesn’t hurt to try.”
