Napoli icon Diego Maradona assures Lorenzo Insigne “doesn’t need to apologise” for confessing Ronaldo was his role model growing up.
Insigne recently admitted he looked up to Ronaldo and not Maradona during his formative years, but the Argentine made it clear his only regret was the Napoli No 24 not being alive for the Partenopei’s Scudetto successes of 1987 and 1990.
“He doesn’t need to apologise,” he told Il Mattino.

“He doesn’t need to apologise,” he told Il Mattino.
“On the contrary, I regret that he wasn’t alive for the moments that his father, Napoli and Neapolitans lived through.
“He has idols like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho because they were the best players when he was growing up, but that’s okay.
“It’s right, however, that Lorenzo also knows we’ve given happiness to Neapolitans, and therefore his father, by scoring four goals against Milan and five against Juventus.
“These are things that no-one can ever erase.”
