Roma took the lead through another Cengiz Under goal but must now turn the tie around in two weeks’ time if they are to reach the Champions League quarter-finals, prompting Alisson to suggest his side were lacking “a strong attitude”.

“We did the right things in the first half,” the goalkeeper told Voce Giallorossa.

“We can’t collapse like this. We’re strong, but we must also have a strong attitude. Luckily we had a good first half, also in a tactical sense.

“Our goal away from home keeps us alive at the Olimpico, where we expect to receive the support of all our fans.

“We can always do better. A draw wouldn’t have been bad, but it’ll be an open match at the Olimpico.

“They’re good and strong, so we mustn’t leave spaces behind because they can play the ball and find those spaces.

“They’re very good going forward, along with Fred, and they made the difference in Shakhtar.

“We work every day to do the right things on the pitch. I always leave the field without a voice because I shout so much.

“Perhaps our team needs to talk more, although it’s better to make the right moves. We did in the first half but didn’t later. That was our biggest mistake, staying too deep.

“It’s difficult for me to talk. I can’t say much more than ‘go forward, stop, come back.’

“We made the wrong movements as a team. The Coach prepared us like he did in the first half, but the quality of our opponents also came out.

“Now we have to work hard and think about the League.”
