“Looking at the first leg, we had many scoring opportunities and unfortunately were unable to get an away goal, but we still have everything it takes to progress.”

The Biancocelesti last week caused shockwaves by withdrawing their contract extension offer to De Vrij, who will be a free agent in June.

“It was a decision made after a long time to break off negotiations, because his side didn’t behave fairly,” Tare told Sky Sport Italia.

“Apart from that little game, we look forward. We had three and a half wonderful years together, we won a lot, and hope to conclude this season with more great success so he can go elsewhere.

“We are not lacking players. Lazio will continue without De Vrij. The club has grown over the years, I hope to make it so this club is seen as a point of arrival and not a stepping stone. We are working together and planning for an even brighter future.”
