Luca Toni admits Italy need more than Luigi Di Biagio and warns “if our football is only managed by bosses, we’ll have the same outcome as before.”
Under-21 boss Di Biagio will take charge of Italy’s upcoming friendlies against England and Argentina, but Toni feels the new CT needed to be “a big name, strong and charismatic”, while “footballing men” were required in the FIGC.
“I wish Di Biagio all the best, but I believe Italy need a big-name Coach, who is strong, charismatic and can start a new cycle,” the 2006 World Cup winner told RMC Sport.
“In addition to the CT, I believe our football must have, in addition to great bosses, footballing men.
“If our football is managed only by bosses, we’ll have the same outcome as before.”
