Roma President Jim Pallotta said they set up their own radio station to combat nine others that “make up stuff all day long.”

The quote that has reverberated back in the Italian Capital is one criticising the culture of fan-based radio stations that flourishes around both Roma and Lazio.

These clubs do have their own radio and satellite television channels, but the ‘unauthorised’ versions are still extremely popular.

“Roma need their own radio station to fight the nine others that make up **** all day long,” said Pallotta.

The official Roma website also seems to back up this view for the radio station launched in August 2014.

“No football club in the world has more radio stations dedicated to discussing its every move than AS Roma. In a city where football talk shows provide the soundtrack to every journey across the city, Roma Radio is unique.

“By broadcasting daily from within the very heart of the club, Roma Radio is able to break down the barriers between the supporters and Roma’s players and management – providing fans with a station that offers exclusive access to the people who matter most.”
