Inter defender Milan Skriniar sees himself at the club ‘for many years’ despite links with Barcelona.
The Slovakian international has caught the eye with his performances for the Nerazzurri this season, despite only joining the San Siro club last summer.
“I see myself here at Inter for many years,” Skriniar said after scoring in his side’s 2-0 win over Benevento last night.
“I’ve never said I wanted to leave, just that anything can happen.”
There has been renewed speculation over Skriniar’s future after a recent interview given in Slovak.
“The translation was wrong, all it takes is to change two or three words and it changes the meaning.
“I just want to help the team, by scoring too if I can. Defensively we have often conceded with the opposition’s first shot, which doesn’t help confidence.
“But finally we have managed to avoid conceding.”
Despite the win it was a difficult evening for Inter, who were outplayed by their modest opponents for long periods and were jeered by their own fans.
“A team that hasn’t won for two months is not in a good place, that’s the problem.
“After the goal we played with more freedom. We started to play well and kept the ball, that was important.
“Then the second goal came and we won.”
Victory moves Inter back up to third place, with Skriniar unconcerned by rivals Roma and Lazio’s results as they continue to chase a Champions League place.
“I don’t know who I fear more, both have their opposition and we have to focus on ourselves.
“If we don’t win it doesn’t matter about them.”
