Louis van Gaal claims he dropped Luca Toni when he coached Bayern Munich for “goofing around too much at breakfast” and acting ‘disrespectfully’.
Toni scored 38 times in 60 appearances for Bayern between 2007 and 2010, but just one of his goals came in his final season as he was jettisoned by Van Gaal, before joining Roma on loan.
“I pulled his ears because he’d goof around too much at breakfast,” the Dutchman told Bild.

“He was disrespectful to me and his teammates. Things like this in a team aren’t acceptable.
“For me, there’s a sacred rule: the team are more important than the individual.”
