Roma’s Francesco Totti has confirmed that he plans to become a sporting director, “learning from Monchi”, and not a Coach.

Totti began retirement by enrolling on a coaching course, but the legendary No 10 pulled out before it even began and is now working alongside Roma sporting director Monchi.

“Me as a Coach? No,” he told Calciomercato.com after being honoured at the Laureus Sport World Awards on Tuesday night.

“Me as a Coach? No,” he told Calciomercato.com after being honoured at the Laureus Sport World Awards on Tuesday night.

“I’m learning from Monchi. I see myself as a sporting director in the future.

“I’m afraid of life, I am afraid of the future. I miss the simple things: putting my boots on, the games, the rituals of the dressing room, dining with my teammates… everything that I was accustomed to over the years.”
