Hakan Calhanoglu claims “this is the best spell of my career and personal life” after establishing himself in Milan’s first team.
Calhanoglu made a slow start to his Milan career, having spent the second half of last season away from a football pitch due to a FIFA suspension.
However, he has become a regular fixture on the Rossoneri’s left wing under Gennaro Gattuso, with the side flying high in Serie A and reaching the Coppa Italia Final.
“Gattuso? He’s done extraordinary things for me,” the Turk told La Repubblica.
“It was terrible to train without being able to play for Bayer Leverkusen: I had a personal trainer and improved a lot in terms of sprinting, but I’m a footballer. Now I’m playing again and I’m happy.
“Derby? I can’t wait to play against Inter: these are matches you dream of. Clash with Ozil? It’ll be nice to meet him: this is the best spell of my career and personal life.”
