Former Juventus man Dani Alves is ‘sorry’ for Davide Astori’s family but notes “thousands of children die every day, and they’re just as important.”
The football world is still shaking after Astori’s death on Sunday, but while Alves offered his sympathy, he confessed he was not hurting like some of his peers and found it wrong that the defender received more attention than the loss of life happening in the world daily.

The football world is still shaking after Astori’s death on Sunday, but while Alves offered his sympathy, he confessed he was not hurting like some of his peers and found it wrong that the defender received more attention than the loss of life happening in the world daily.
“We weren’t torn apart by pain because we didn’t know him very well and we weren’t friends,” the right-back said at a Press conference for Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League last-16 second leg against Real Madrid.
“I’m sorry for his family. All of PSG sends a warm embrace to his family, who unfortunately suffered this loss.
“But personally, I have a way of looking at life, which is that we all have a mission. Once we have completed that mission on earth, we move on to another world.
“Perhaps he had achieved what he needed to in this chaotic world and is now in a better place. Who knows if he left important things behind… he was a good person who deserves to be remembered, but I think in this world thousands of children die every day for different reasons without this much attention being paid to them. Their deaths are just as important.
“We are all passing through in this world. When our moment comes, we too will have to go. I am very sorry for his family, which suffered a tragic loss.
“For all those who weren’t close to him, it’s sad to lose a colleague, but not as sad as if we had been friends. The two cannot be compared.”
There is a problem even with this suggestion, because Paris Saint-Germain have in their squad Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta, who were teammates with Astori for the Italy squad.
