Paris Saint-Germain’s President claims his club were ‘dominating’ Real Madrid, until the red card shown to Marco Verratti “killed the game”.
PSG crashed out of the Champions League last 16 after a 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday, without ever looking like staging a comeback, yet Nasser Al-Khelaifi was adamant his side could have if Verratti stayed on the pitch.
“We’re disappointed and angry at this result,” he said after the game.
“We believed in [progression] and dominated the first half, but after the first goal came Verratti’s dismissal, which killed the game. It’s a difficult defeat to accept.
“For now, we won’t make any decisions, we’re still hot. We’ll think about what we have to do calmly.”
