The English papers focused more on Tottenham Hotspur’s failings than giving credit to Juventus after the Champions League turnaround.

Son Heung-Min had opened the scoring at Wembley to give Spurs a 3-2 aggregate lead, but Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala scored in under three minutes to turn everything around and win 2-1 in London.

“Son sets on Spurs hopes,” wrote the Daily Express. “Korean makes flying start, but Dybala and Higuain end dream.”

The Telegraph was harsh, writing: “Italian job robs Spurs.”

“Juve blown it!” was the Daily Mail headline, insisting Spurs were guilty of “throwing away lead.”

The running theme throughout all the English headlines was the same phrase: “Tottenham’s Champions League dream turned into a nightmare.”

The Daily Mirror pointed out the rapid turnaround: “Tottenham cruising into last eight… 169 secs later and Juventus double ends dream.”

It’s not The Sun without a pun and they went with ‘Arryvederci after a quiet night for Harry Kane.
