Fiorentina’s fans chanted and sang for Davide Astori after his funeral, throwing scarves for the pallbearers.

Around 7,000 Viola fans gathered outside the Basilica di Santa Croce to say goodbye to their captain, who tragically passed away on Sunday.

Before the funeral a delegation from Juventus, the club’s most bitter rivals, were welcomed with applause and gratitude as football rivalry was put aside.

Around 7,000 Viola fans gathered outside the Basilica di Santa Croce to say goodbye to their captain, who tragically passed away on Sunday.

Before the funeral a delegation from Juventus, the club’s most bitter rivals, were welcomed with applause and gratitude as football rivalry was put aside.

Following moving tributes from family and teammates, Astori’s coffin was taken outside where the waiting fans waved flags and threw scarves toward the coffin.

Pallbearers could be seen collecting some of the scarves and placing them inside the hearse.

The Fiorentina fans chanted “there’s only one Capitano”, as purple smoke filled the air, in a moving tribute to their departed captain.

The Viola faithful also sang the 'Inno della Fiorentina' which plays as the players run out at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
