Lazio’s spokesman claims there is ‘clear malice’ from referees towards the club after ‘double standards’ overshadowed their 2-2 draw with Cagliari.

Lazio were denied a VAR verdict when Ciro Immobile was sandwiched in the box against Cagliari, while the Sardinians profited from one after Leonardo Pavoletti was adjudged to have been pushed near Thomas Strakosha’s goal.

“Lazio are still being hurt by the League, compromising the excellent work done on the pitch, which has been and is still being rewarded with results,” Arturo Diaconale told Radio Olympia.

“Yesterday at Cagliari, double standards were used to judge penalty incidents for both teams.

“To date, we can categorically state that our campaign has been distorted. Lazio don’t want to believe in this conspiracy theory, but the malice is now clear in terms of refereeing decisions going against us.

“There are those who make repeatedly mistakes, without ever paying for them.”

Biancocelesti officials have regularly complained of refereeing decisions going against them this season, with President Claudio Lotito on record as even threatening to pull his club out of Serie A.
