Dynamo Kiev Coach Aljaksandr Chackevič sees “something in common” between himself and Lazio’s Simone Inzaghi.
The Ukrainian side got a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Olimpico, so if they can hold the Biancocelesti to a goalless draw tomorrow they’ll advance to the Europa League Quarter-Finals.
“It’s about trying to do the impossible,” Chackevič said in his pre-match Press conference.
“We’ll apply all of our effort. We just have to put everything on the pitch, we will play for ourselves, for the city of Kiev, and for all those who defend these colours.
“Simone Inzaghi? I have a lot of respect for him, maybe we have something in common as we've come up through our clubs through the youth teams.
“Our teams already met in the past, but unfortunately I wasn’t there.”
Shakhtar Donetsk won their first leg against Lazio’s city rivals Roma, but they went out of the Champions League with a 1-0 defeat in Rome last night.
“I didn’t see the Shakthar match, so I can’t say what they lacked. We are getting ready to show what we can do against Lazio, a very strong team.
“In Rome their first goal came from a very fast move, which is linked to the ability of their players.
“The second was a mistake from us, it’s something we’ve already analysed and we’ll do everything to avoid repeating such mistakes.
“Felipe Anderson, like [Ciro] Immobile is a strong player who caused us a lot of problems in the game in Rome.
“We’re not thinking about man marking anyone though, football is a game where you also have to be attentive to the areas on the pitch.
“After the game in Rome though we must think we can compete with any opponent.”
