Milan CEO Marco Fassone reassured fans on their financial status, discussions with UEFA and tonight’s Europa League trip to Arsenal.

“The team is free of pressure, broke the ice and the first leg was the first played against a big competitor after many years. We’ll fight it out and at the 90th minute count up the goals,” the CEO told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-0 first leg defeat.

Fassone has been working hard to negotiate the increase of Capital at the club and discussed the on-going reports of financial problems.

“The club is relaxed, then there are a series of rumours doing the rounds, but we are accustomed to them even before the closing of the takeover.

“We are relatively optimistic, the refinancing will be completed and the rapport with both Yonghong Li and Elliott Management are very good. Everyone is calm on the club’s future.

“UEFA will want to have reassurances on the consistency of the club, I am convinced that I have what it takes to reassure them. We will have sufficient elements to guarantee a good future for Milan.”

Coach Gennaro Gattuso seems to have earned his confirmation on the bench after replacing Vincenzo Montella.

“There is a very good rapport with Gattuso and we are transparent with him. He has already shown what he can do. He put in some extraordinary performances and has nothing more to prove. The timing of his contract has to do with red tape and not results.

“We are waiting for the right moment to discuss the situation and I think it’ll be soon.”
