A former Hellas Verona youth team player has been expelled from Italy after facing terrorism charges.
Mame Fily Sall is a 21-year-old Senegalese midfielder who was residing in Vicenza, but without a club since the summer of 2016.
He was taken to the airport in Milan and expelled on a flight to Senegal after he was charged with terror-related offences.
It’s reported authorities monitored Sall for weeks and saw him attempting to purchase firearms and chemical substances.
He had already been charged with threats with a weapon in the past when entering a jeweller’s store with a long knife.
Sall played in the Verona Primavera youth team in 2014-15, was released and spent a brief period with local side FC Vado Ligure.
