Giorgio Chiellini is an injury doubt for Italy’s friendlies with Argentina and England, with Angelo Ogbonna added to the Azzurri squad.
Veteran defender Chiellini had to be substituted during the course of Juventus’ 0-0 draw at SPAL yesterday evening, with Andrea Barzagli coming on to replace him in the 81st minute.
Bianconeri boss Max Allegri described Chiellini’s problem as ‘muscular fatigue’ in the aftermath of the match, with tests planned for today in order to determine the extent of the issue.
Though there has been no official confirmation as of yet, Gazzetta Sportiva report that the setback will definitely rule the 33-year-old out of the upcoming internationals.
In any event, interim Azzurri Coach Luigi Di Biagio has called up West Ham’s Ogbonna to act as defensive cover.
