Inter director Piero Ausilio assures Luciano Spalletti doesn’t think his team lacks quality, denies scouting Bernard, but is tight-lipped on Stefan de Vrij.

“Qualifying for the Champions League means getting a result in Genoa, because it’s the first of a very important run of fixtures,” Ausilio told Mediaset Premium.
“There are many free agents around and we have to make moves that are useful for Inter. It’s true I was at the Olimpico for Roma-Shakhtar Donetsk, but I just wanted to watch a game and as an Italian cheer on one of our teams. I wasn’t there to watch Bernard.
“We mustn’t lose sight of the quality we have in our squad. We are evaluating the situation along with our Coach and will ensure we are ready for any opportunities.”
Spalletti lambasted his players after last week’s 0-0 draw with Napoli, insisting they had very little “quality” in the team compared to the Partenopei.
Many took this as a message to the club that they had not bought the kind of players he was asking for over the summer or in January.
“I think he was just noting that Napoli are a very different side and the Coach wanted to make a more generic analysis,” insisted Ausilio.
“When we talk about quality, we also mean intensity, concentration and many other elements that are needed in a match. We speak every day, so I know what the Coach is talking about and what he wants.”
It is widely reported that Inter already have a deal in place with Stefan de Vrij, whose contract with Lazio expires in June.
“As I said, there are many free agents out there and we’ll try to do what is best for Inter. I won’t deny De Vrij is an excellent player, but before looking outside, let’s not forget we already have Joao Miranda and Milan Skriniar in defence.”
